Terry Jones - Florida's Fred Phelps
Written by Syko Shadow
As I am a Florida resident (represent for Broward County!), my local news stations are all covering an event happening in Gainesville, which is just a few miles north from the Central Florida shit-hole I am currently residing in (fuck Lake County, fuck it hard). Apparently, some wholesome little church in that town called the Dove World Outreach Center is preparing for an anti-Islamic protest that makes Draw Mohammed Day seem harmless by comparison. On September 11th, anniversary of the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City, the patrons of the Dove World Outreach Center, a small non-denominational Christian church in Gainesville, Florida, will all participate in a Qu'ran book-burning.
This is an open letter to the leading pastor behind this event, Terry Jones, and all who support him:
GO. FUCK. YOURSELF.
DISCLAIMER: What you are about to witness is an Atheist defending Islam, while simultaneously verbally accosting anti-Islam sentiment of this kind. That's right, the godless is actually standing up for the god-fearing in this case. If that isn't kinda fucked up, I don't know what is.
Let's get this out of the way first: Islam is no more evil than any other mainstream religion in the world. Besides a few semantic differences and slightly varying interpretations, it's pretty much just the same fucking thing as Christianity and Judaism, so all the Americans who are condemning Islam as the ONE bad religion in the world, worse than Satanism and Scientology combined (and yet, probably still not hated as much as Atheism), are all fucking retards. I will not argue this point any further, it's simple and clear: if Muslims are so bad, then so are Jews and Christians, because the differences between the three biggest religions in the world are superficial at best. More than that, anyone with half of a brain stem knows that terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda and the Taliban are not true Muslims, much in the same way the Nazis were not true Christians, and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter actually isn't butter.
I won't even bring this point up any more, it shouldn't even have to be said, not all Muslims are fucking terrorists, how fucking hard is that to accept?! Just because someone bombs a building "in the name of Allah" doesn't mean you can point the finger at Islam. If some white supremacist Tea Party member tried to assassinate Barack Obama "in the name of Jesus," (which I wouldn't be shocked at all to see actually happen sometime before next election season) I guarantee you Christianity wouldn't get any shit for it, and we're talking about attempted murder of the President of the United States here. It's an insulting double standard here in America, that any religion has to take all the heat for radical individual citizens who associate themselves with that religion, except Christianity which can't be blamed for anything since America is a Christian country and thus Christians are the kings here. To put it short, if all Muslims can be blamed for the Taliban, then all Christians should be blamed for the Third Reich, and all rap music should be blamed for Soulja Boy.
Now, for the people who disagree with this point and not only want to blame Muslims for everything from terrorism to being held up at an airport, but also think it's fun to get their jollies off from book-burning. To think, even for a second, that these religious jack-offs are justified in their actions or beliefs in any way is wrong. Where the fuck do they get off burning the Qu'ran for the sake of protesting against Muslims for shit they aren't even responsible for?! Not to mention this sad excuse for a protest isn't even about what people have done to Americans "in the name of Allah." It's gotten to the point in America where it's about nothing more than hating Muslims and all Middle-Eastern people simply for existing. That's it, that's the only thing these book-burning fucks are saying with their actions, that they hate Muslims for doing nothing but living on the same planet as them.
They also want to play it off as payback for people in the Middle East burning American flags and Bibles. First of all, Terry Jones, the problem with "an eye for an eye" is that eventually, everyone ends up blind. Second of all, burning the Qu'ran isn't really sending the message that the actions of Muslims are barbaric and immoral when your counter-protest to them burning your shit is copying them! Third of all, like I said, this isn't even about Muslims burning flags or Bibles, it's just about Muslims existing. Their very existence offends these radical Christian nutjobs.
This last point may seem controversial, but I'm going to say it anyway: After almost an entire decade of unjustified prejudice and hatred against Muslims in America, ranging from social anger to full-blown violence reminiscent of the same attitudes that lead to the Tulsa Race Riots, along with the U.S. Army invading-- oh, I'm sorry, "occupying" multiple Middle Eastern countries in the past 9 years, I can understand why a bunch of Afghani citizens would feel like burning an American flag at this point.
I would like to mention one more thing about the Dove World Outreach Center that I just found out today. It's bad enough to be the anti-Islamic equivalent of the Westboro Baptist Church, but one little bit of info about Terry Jones' congregation and the company they keep: they're actually allies of Fred Phelps and his inbred church group in Kansas called the Westboro Baptist Church! Not only has Terry Jones and other members of the DWOC voiced their support of the Westboro Baptist Church, they have actually joined the WBC on one of their classic "God Hates Fags" protests, so they're anti-gay as well as anti-Islam, it just keeps getting worse. So the title of this blog can in fact be taken literally, Terry Jones really is Fred Phelps for Florida residents. I'm just glad Gainesville, the town where these fucking retards live, is in North Florida, far away from my hometown of Hollywood and all of South Florida. Thank Allah for that.
